The Cure is a British gothic rock band formed in 1976 in Crawley, England. The Cure has had multiple lineups. The most stable was the one in place between 1985 and 1988, comprising guitarist Robert Smith, bassist Simon Gallup, drummer Boris Williams, keyboardist Laurence Tolhurst, and guitarist Porl Thompson. In 1989, the band released what is considered its crowning achievement, Disintegration, an album that earned the band its highest-ever position on the British charts with the single “Lullaby,” which reached number five and remained there for six consecutive weeks.
