Well, anyone who doesn’t know them must not have been living on this planet… because we’re here to talk to you about none other than Ska-P! People can say what they like—some will speak well of them, others not so well—but there’s no doubt they’re the country’s leading ska-punk and punk rock band!
With their catchy songs, they made their mark on the second half of the ’90s and the first part of the ’00s, getting millions of restless young people around the world singing along. After several breaks and a somewhat less regular release schedule, this past year, 2023, they gave us this four-song EP, titled “Seguimos” (“We Keep Going”)—though, with a bit of humor, they’ve announced another hiatus!
That said, this EP features four 100% classic Ska-P tracks. At this point, the band isn’t looking to reinvent themselves, but that doesn’t mean they’ve lost their edge or let the quality slip. If you’re a fan, this release won’t disappoint…
They kick things off with “Estimado John,” an emotive song with some excellent melodies, in which Pulpul speaks directly to the late John Lennon of the Beatles… who knows, maybe one day those messages of peace and love will reach the people running the world, too.
Next up is “Las Flores,” a track with a very classic Ska-P sound, in which the band recalls how, in this country, things were swept under the rug.
The album closes with “El chupacabras” and “el ático”
If you’re a fan of the band, this release won’t disappoint. It’ll have you singing and dancing, just as they’ve done all these years…
So let’s hope this is just a “see you later”!
