Fred & Judy Vermorel - God Save the Sex Pistols - Book

First published in 1978, God Save the Sex Pistols was the first book to document, with precision and clarity, the rise and dissolution of the quintessential British punk band that turned popular music upside down and, in the process, upended the conservative society and music industry of the mid-seventies. Composed as a collage of interviews with all current and former members of the band, their family, friends, and collaborators, the fascinating private diary of the secretary of the controversial manager Malcolm McLaren, excerpts from the incendiary press that poured all the hatred and prejudice of the establishment onto the band, and fan letters, among other materials, this volume is a truly original, multifaceted, and vivid punk artifact, embellished with the graphic material created for the band by the unclassifiable Jamie Reid and a good number of photographs. As the authors say, this book is “the closest the Sex Pistols came to telling their own story.”
