Eskorbuto - Ya No Quedan Mas Cojones - CD

“Ya no quedan más cojones, Eskorbuto a las elecciones, para vivir alegre y contento, Eskorbuto al parlamento”. Well, yes, at the end of 1986 they come up with this crazy idea: to run in the elections. The original plan was to collect the number of signatures required by law to form Eskorbuto as a political party and thus use the free airtime that TVE makes available to the parties wishing to run for parliament to promote this EP and, by the way, themselves. In the end, the proposal didn’t go any further than that.

In the tracklist they include two of their best—and also most controversial—songs, “Escupe a las banderas” and “Maldito país”, which they re-record for the occasion. Their inclusion is not opportunistic, as they fit quite well with the idea underlying all their songs: chants against politicians, as in “Cuando los dinosaurios dominaban la tierra”, or against the anti-terrorism law that they themselves experienced firsthand in “Abajo la ley”. But they are clear that they are not the only ones to blame: the youth’s own voluntary descent into bourgeois complacency, “Ya no quedan más cojones, Eskorbuto a las elecciones”, and the society itself, which fails to keep its sheep from straying, “La sangre, los polvos, los muertos”, are also partly to blame.
