Candlemass, founded by Leif Edling in Stockholm in 1984, became one of the most influential epic doom metal bands, inspired by Black Sabbath. Their classic 1987 album Nightfall, featuring iconic vocalist Messiah Marcolin, helped define the genre with legendary songs like "Dark Are The Veils Of Death" and "Well Of Souls." To celebrate 40 years of the band, "Dark Are The Veils Of Death" includes rare 1987 rehearsal recordings and demos made before the Nightfall studio sessions.
