Reissued in 2016 by Legacy Records, «Smash Hits» is the title of this compilation originally released in 1968 by the psychedelic rock trio The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Meticulously restored to its original format, «Smash Hits» includes timeless classics such as «Purple Haze», «Hey Joe», «Red House» or «Fire» and features a recreation of the poster included in the original LP. With Jimi, Mitch and Noel dressed as cowboys from the film studios of Warner Brothers in early 1969.
Burning Desire is part of Jimi Hendrix's authorized "pirate" releases by Dagger Records. Mixed by Eddie Kramer, the collection presents compelling examples of Jimi's notable creative explorations during 1969 and early 1970. In the shadow of Electric Ladyland, the original Jimi Hendrix Experience struggled to remain a cohesive unit and Jimi's relentless creative pursuit would lead to experimental sessions with bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles and ambitious attempts to incorporate fresh musical elements.
