Label: Anti

The Beths return with Straight Line Was a Lie, a sharply focused and emotionally candid album that marks their first release for ANTI-. Written in Los Angeles and self-recorded in Auckland, it follows the acclaimed Expert in a Dying Field and sees lead singer and songwriter Liz Stokes exploring mental and physical health, family dynamics, and the unpredictable nature of personal growth.Drawing influence from The Go-Go's, Olivia Rodrigo, Akira Kurosawa, and Stephen King's On Writing, Stokes offers a collection of songs that are lyrically vulnerable yet melodically immediate. Straight Line Was a Lie captures The Beths at their most introspective, poetic, and musically assured.
