189 Writings with One Sick Hand - Enrique Villareal “El Drogas” - Book + CD

“What a heap
of bodies
stashed in the closet!
What a heap
of writings
by a hand gone bad!”

The new literary and musical project by Enrique Villarreal «El Drogas«. A conceptual work that expands his creative universe and establishes him not only as a musician but also as a distinctive voice in contemporary poetry. On the one hand, “189 Writings by a Sick Hand”, a carefully crafted, substantial book-album that includes “The Long Sleep of a Moth”, a new album on CD. On the other, a colored vinyl edition of the aforementioned album, with expanded artwork and a luxurious finish for collectors.

These “189 Writings by a Sick Hand”, born from a small collection of poems written before the pandemic, which the author substantially expanded and even rewrote during the months of lockdown, mark yet another turning point in his literary career. A statement of intent in which Villarreal stakes his claim and reveals the powerful, distinctive universe of his writing, his particular perspective and, at last, a truly recognizable poetic voice: that of a poet with a gravelly voice who likes to wring every last drop from words, who makes no secret of his obsessions and even plays with some of the sources that inspire him (settings) to embellish his universe.

The road, death, the shirt, the earth, blood, time and the bus stop are among the literary images that populate the more than three hundred pages of this volume, accompanied by photographs of the author and designed and laid out by Koldo Villarreal.

“The Long Sleep of a Moth”, the CD accompanying the volume, marks another step forward in the career of an artist constantly searching for new ways to move and connect with his audience, and always looking ahead. It features eight songs in a more stripped-back format than usual, yet rich in nuance and dressed in exquisite detail for the listener’s enjoyment. This handcrafted concept also inspired Enrique to present the album in an acoustic format, performed onstage by seven musicians under the name “El Drogas Akustik Fraktion”, aimed at theaters and auditoriums, with the first dates to be announced soon.
