Lady Soul, released in January 1968, was one of Aretha Franklin’s finest and most popular albums — a No. 2 record that featured her take on Carole King’s «(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman» and the immortal «Chain of Fools.» Just a landmark statement of female empowerment and inspired vocal performance.
