white-flame-american-rudeness-cd
White Flame - American Rudeness - CD

Label: Munster Records

WHITE FLAME formed in Connecticut in the early 1970s, with high school friends Mark St. John and Rich Ricciuti. Their only album, "American Rudeness," was recorded between 1977 and 1978 in New Haven and self-released on the band's own label, Rudeness Records. It ultimately remained a private pressing that never found distribution beyond the state where the band lived, preventing them from achieving any kind of success or recognition outside their local area. Their music is a powerful mix of early Detroit punk, heroin-fueled "Berlin-style" rock, and a touch of weirdness (they were huge Frank Zappa fans). On the title track, you can even hear similarities to what Wayne County was doing in New York, or what British bands like The Count Bishops were up to. It has a Kim Fowley-esque wickedness, and you can feel occasional influences from the Stooges (those howling guitars), MC5 (energetic, high-voltage guitar riffs), and the Velvet Underground (especially on "Blame"). Almost 30 years after its original release, Munster is now unearthing this hidden treasure for you.
