It could have also been a play—there were plenty of characters to go around—but I decided to frame it as a little diary to remind myself that I am not just what I think about myself. Nor am I what someone else thinks I am. No one, in fact, is anything more than what they think of themselves. I begin by rebuilding “my home,” as I had to make it mine again and put it in order—put myself in order. “Forgiving myself for the things that will never happen” speaks for itself, but I think I had it worse because of everything I wanted to happen, everything that spiraled out of my control and that could never have happened for me at that moment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLet’s look at it in perspective: thinking I was “worthy of someone”—I’m sure that’s not the right path, yet I couldn’t help but ask myself. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI suppose sometimes I contradict myself, or I’m not just what I think is right. I’ve allowed myself to get angry, to recognize myself in places I don’t usually go when I’m high, and I’ve tried to be clear with myself. That’s what makes these songs tell, more or less gently (but at least honestly), everything that has gone through my head. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLooking back with perspective, I could have blurred it more, made it more poetic, or tried to caress the memories more gently. But the truth is that there was no way to treat this “no soy tu hombre” with anything other than this kind of affection. Sometimes tangible, sometimes absent. Because that’s how I lived it. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI’m not your man; in fact, I’m not even half of who I was with you.
