In the spring of 1974, they recorded a demo in Frantz’s apartment featuring songs that would later become Talking Heads classics such as “Warning Sign” and “Psycho Killer”. This rarities collection includes that recently discovered material as well as other demos and live recordings by the original trio, including fifteen previously unreleased demos recorded for CBS in 1975 and twelve songs taken from various shows at New York venues (including the legendary Max´s Kansas City).

In the album liner notes, Frantz recalls that The Artistics’ original goal was to play covers by The Kinks and Al Green until they began writing their own songs. “One day David came knocking at the door of the art studio where Tina and I lived, and he played the first verse and chorus of “Psycho Killer” for us,” Frantz recalls. Byrne asked Weymouth, who spoke French, to write lyrics for the bridge while Frantz added more verses, and that’s how it all began. “Tentative decisions; demos & live” continues a series of archival recordings that showcase the New York band’s legacy and celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Tracklist

.- Psycho Killer (September 1975 Demo)
.- Tentative Decisions (September 1975 Demo)
.- No Compassion (September 1975 Demo)
.- Warning Sign (September 1975 Demo)
.- I'm Not in Love (1976 Demo)
.- Thank You for Sending Me an Angel (1976 Demo)
.- The Book I Read (1976 Demo)
.- I Wish You Wouldn't Say That (1976 Demo)
.- Love Goes to a Building on Fire (1976 Demo)
.- Happy Day (1976 Demo)
.- Artists Only (Live at the Lower Manhattan Ocean Club, New York, NY, 8/17/76)
.- Psycho Killer
.- Warning Sign
.- Psycho Killer (CBS/Columbia Demo)

.- Sugar on My Tongue (CBS/Columbia Demo)
.- Thank You for Sending Me an Angel (CBS/Columbia Demo)
.- I Want to Live (CBS/Columbia Demo)
.- I Wish You Wouldn't Say That (CBS/Columbia Demo)
.- The Girls Want to Be With the Girls (CBS/Columbia Demo)
.- Who Is It?
