Such is the result from not setting out to record an album while youre hanging out in Heaven. Guitar lines may or may not be backwards. Selected Recordings compiles primal Anatolian dance rhythms not far off from the jungliest bounce of Bo Diddley, and produced like a quadraphonic Les Paul album played on an improperly calibrated turntable. Avoiding the echo box and lava lamp cliches of the brand of "psych" that is omnipresent on the scene today, it is safe to say that true psychedelia abounds here. A Mediterranean concoction of two of our favorite "Black" bands (Sabbath/ Lips), ABJ represents the future of heavy psych'n'roll from an isolated, ancient civilization. Combining the ruthless elements of American outlaw roots music and celestial glam rock, like fellow deconstructionists Demon's Claws, "LP" suggests the Rolling Stones at their wearied best, with the electrifying hi-jinks of Brian Eno bulldozing the swagger into the darkest corners of the cosmos.

Sello: Slovenly

A monster 45 by Greek freak-scene Acid Baby Jesus! Vibrating from Athens, the most ancient depth of the garage swamp, these lysergic godz have delivered a three track psych-punk single that'll turn your speakers into ruinous rubble! The discus opens with "Hospitals," a classic stomper with an incredibly hooky vocal driven by a wailing riff overloaded with reverb, twang, fuzz and echo: a truly supreme anthem that ouzos with loud-fidelity wizardry. The single's single, and equally stellar as "Hospitals", "It's On Me" has a brilliantly trippy video directed by acclaimed Greek cinematography team BLICKER. The B-side, "Losing It," moseys forth with a hypnotic country swagger that seems to slide right off the wax with warped organ lines, desperate vocals and a criminally cerebral and percussive arrangement.
